The Paradise Pack (2015 and 2016): THANK YOU!!!!

Jason Moore (Zero To Travel)  and Travis Sherry (Extra Pack of Peanuts) put together a bundle of world class resources to help people travel the world and become location independent. 10% of all Paradise Pack sales went to Pencils of Promise.

Thanks to all of our amazing customers (yes I'm talking to you!) we have raised enough money to build two schools!!!

We can't thank you enough!

Hey, it's Jason here.

I originally, I started fundraising for Pencils of Promise when I went on a hitchhiking race around Scotland! This, combined with our 2015 Pardise Pack contribution allowed us to build our first school in Guatamala.

You are read about my first fundraiser here...

The Great Scottish Hitchhiking Race

Update : This fundraiser was successfully completed!

Growing up, most of us took going to school for granted.

Hell, we would even complain about it sometimes!

"I don't feel like going today."

"Mom, I'm too tired."

"School sucks."

In reality we should have been thanking our lucky stars...

Because currently there are more than 61 million children without access to education.

61 million!

Stew on that for a second.

These kids would give anything to be able to go to school.

Anything.

Well, let's do something about it.

Let's help build them one.

Pencils of Promise empowers lives around the world by building schools for children in need and 100% of your donation goes to the cause.

Together, we can make a difference. (don't roll your eyes...you know you loved that last sentence).

Trading Miles For Smiles : About the Race

On May 1st I am participating in a hitchiking race around Scotland.

Here is the route:

The race is a 546 mile quasi-circumnavigation around what some call 'the greatest country on earth'.

This is an informal race set up by an awesome Facebook group of nomadic travelers I am part of.

Teams of 2 will stick out their thumbs on May 1st and hit the road. I still don't know who my partner is. Lord help him if we share a tent, I can get a little gassy sometimes.

Now, I must admit I am a little bit scared to hitchhike a nation.

I've hitchiked small distances in other countries before but never an ENTIRE country.

Helping these kids is already alllowing me to overcome some of the fears running through my mind.

Plus, I'm sure your suppport to this cause will keep me going Scotland Strong in the cold, wind and rain.

Yes, you will support this cause. (Sorry, old Jedi copy writing trick).

Anyway, you can also follow along on the adventure if so inclined.

I'll be sharing pics here and on the Zero To Travel Facebook page including photo evidence of me at each checkpoint of the race.

It won't be a picture of myself pretending to hitchike like the one I took this week in Norway for your amusement:

Oh no, it will probably be a much dirtier, grimier and scarier version of me. Although before the above photo I hadn't showered for 3 days, I'm still kinda clean. (Don't judge me)

One last thing.

I want it to be clear that all of your donations go to Pencils of Promise. 100%. I am funding my entire trip to Scotland.

Now, Help The Kids Damnit!

In addition to racing, I'm donating $1 per race mile.

That's $546 smackers.

What you got?

Pony up.

Now is the time.

C'mon, help a brotha out!

I'm going to be stuck on the side of the road with my thumb out.

I could be stabbed by a crazy Scotsman who sounds like Groundskeeper Willie with a hangover.

It's possible I'll even be a 'wee bit' uncomfortable for days on end. (Sorry, just wanted to try out some Scottish speak there)

All I am asking you to do is click a few buttons and give these Pencils of Promise peeps some loot to buld a school for kids who need it.

Skip the latte and build the kids a school already.

Bike to work this week and give the kids your gas money.

I don't care how you do it, just go right ahead and take care of business.

You know you want to...

Seriously, please donate whatever you can.

$5.46 = 1 cent per mile. (This is too low of an amount, don't even think about it)

$54.50 = 10 cents per mile. (Now we're talking)

A crisp hundo = you are getting awesomer

$500...hold up, I need a minute to catch my breath because you just took it away.

How about just a flat $25,000 donation?

Yeah, that works swimmingly.

Actually $25,000 would build an entire school.

My secret hope is that we can get to $25,000 even though I set a $5K goal, just had to put that out there.

So please donate and help spread the word about my campaign across Facebook, Twitter and to everyone you know.

Everyone.

Yes, I am asking you to spam your friends and the people you are connected to on Facebook as well.

It's not spam if it's for good, so relax brah.

You're doing it for the kids!

Remember, just $25 allows Pencils of Promise to give a child access to education for one year, so I would love you to help me try to raise as much money as possible!

Thanks for your support.

Now I must go back to my training. It's pretty top secret but I can tell you that it involves thumb wrestling and some mini-execise bands.

Sincerely,

Jason Moore (The Amateur Hitcher)
