Bob Haugen devoted his life to making sure that kids had access to sports and education, whether it was running the town soccer club, starting the town basketball league or initiating scholarship funds that allowed kids to attend college. In his memory, his family would like to ask people to donate to Pencils of Promise, whose mission is to build schools and bring education to kids in the developing world, and train young leaders at home to take action for a better world.

In Bob's memory, our goal is to raise $50,000 --  $25,000 to build one school in the developing world (PoP builds in Laos, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Ghana) and $25,000 for scholarships that will benefit children in Greenwich, CT. Part of those scholarships will go toward sending the kids to visit one of the PoP Schools abroad in order to educate and inform them about the global community that they are a part of.

Bob's contagious smile, good nature and huge heart was a staple in the Greenwich community. We'd like to honor his memory by paying his good will forward so that new generations of kids can benefit from his legacy.

This campaign will conclude in late-May/early-June with a Memorial Family Basketball Event in Greenwich, CT. We hope to see everyone there and will announce the date as soon as it's set!

Please donate and help spread the word about this campaign across Facebook, Twitter and to everyone you know.

Thanks again for your support, and remember: While one person can make a change, only together can we change the world.
